New Windsor EAGLES got a great start to the season with a 1:4 win over Beaconsfield BULLS. The Eagles started well, taking the game to the Bulls. Jake Fearnley crossed the ball into the Bulls' 10 yard box aiming for last season’s new striker Rory Beer. As it flew towards Rory’s right foot it was intercepted by the Bulls defender, GOAL! We’ll take it...
After yesterday’s top training session with army football coach Steve Parker the boys were ready for the new season and ready to share. The way they built the second goal was poetry in motion and this season’s new signing Sam Chevis fought hard past two defenders to make it 0:2 before the half time whistle.
Second half and the Bulls were not going to lie down, they made it 1:2 within minutes of the kick off and were heading for 2:2 but Sam Bodkin had grown over the summer and wasn’t going to let them past him in defence.
Then the Eagles moved forward again and clinched that all important 3rd. Rory Beer working his magic, making it 4 with a brilliant free kick on the edge of the 10 yard box after Jake Fearnley was taken down in a desperate attempt to prevent him scoring what would have been his first, as last season’s top scorer.
Excellent start to the season... well done everyone.
